The Sengsongd Thrift Store offers gently used clothing, shoes, books, household items, and more—donated by generous members of our community. Every purchase directly supports the Palau Red Cross Society’s humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief, emergency response training, and public health outreach across Palau.

Why is it called “Sengsongd” Thrift Store?

“Sengsongd” comes from the Palauan proverb:

“A sengsongd a mrecherchii a klengoes”
—“Small twigs can bring a soup to a boil.”

This saying reminds us that even the smallest actions can lead to meaningful impact. Just as twigs help bring water to a boil, every donation and purchase at our thrift store helps support the humanitarian work of the Palau Red Cross Society.

“Sengsongd” reflects Palauan values of sharing, resourcefulness, and community care. It encourages sustainability by giving gently used items a new life, while promoting the spirit of helping one another with what we have.

The name was thoughtfully chosen by Gin Bosil Ngirmidol, the winner of our community naming contest.
“Sengsongd” is more than just a name—it’s a symbol of how small acts of kindness come together to make a big difference.

  • The Sengsongd Thrift Store is located in Ngebudel, Airai State.

    If you're coming from Koror, look out for these landmarks along the way. The store will be on your left after passing:

    • Palau NEMO (National Emergency Management Office)

    • ARFF (Division of Airport Rescue Fire Fighting)

    • Palau National Weather Service Office

  • The store is open every Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

  • Prices range from $0.50 to $5.00.
